(3) Ride safely! Properly lock your SPO bike. Must provide own helmet. Turn on bike lights (provided) at night. See below for more details on bike safety and road rules. (4) Please return your SPO bike within 3 days, and bring keys back to the front desk. If there are any bike maintenance needs, email valeria2@illinois.edu or inform the DURP office’s front desk. (Don’t worry, you’re not going to get in trouble.)
In general, bicyclists may ride either in the road or on the sidewalk, although they should check laws local to Champaign and Urbana to find out where riding on the sidewalk is not permitted.
Illinois law requires bicyclists riding at night to use a front headlamp and rear reflector. Authorities of law around UIUC will fine you if you do not turn on your lights at night!
Campus Bike Center - The Campus Bike Center provides tools, parts, refurbished bikes for sale, and dedicated volunteers to help shop members and the larger community with their bicycle maintenance needs.
