  • Faculty or student needing to run an errand

Safety + Knowledge

  • "Be visible and predictable at all times." - League of American Bicyclists
  • In general, bicyclists may ride either in the road or on the sidewalk, although they should check laws local to Champaign and Urbana to find out where riding on the sidewalk is not permitted.
  • When bicyclists ride in the road, the law treats them as a vehicle. Bicyclists must follow all rules of the road.
  • Illinois law requires bicyclists riding at night to use a front headlamp and rear reflector. Authorities of law around UIUC will fine you if you do not turn on your lights at night!
